New York City’s Public Advocate Bill de Blasio just announced the latest additions and new features to his New York Citys Worst Landlords Watch List. There are now 317 landlords listed, and the updated Watch List now tracks whether their violations are on the rise or being repaired. The site, which is featured on Craigslist.org to assist apartment hunters, also includes a new list of 176 buildings recently removed from the Watch List because violations like lead paint, infestations and mold have been addressed. HUD announced that it will provide $2.4 million to public housing agencies to supply permanent housing and case management for homeless veterans. This funding is a coordinated effort by HUD, VA, and local housing agencies to provide permanent housing for homeless veterans. The most recent wave of funding will support 435 vouchers in 18 communities. The government’s goal is to alleviate long-term chronic homelessness of vets by 2015.
