City Rolls Back Rental Inspection Program

According to a news report out of Lansing, Illinois, local lawmakers voted unanimously to ease the inspection requirements on rental properties.

Under the new rules, landlords will no longer be required to endure annual rental inspections. Now, the inspections are on a three-year cycle.

That means landlords will no longer have to fork over the fees for annual inspections.

A spokesman told the news that village officials realized that more frequent inspections simply weren’t necessary.

Landlords will still be required to register tenants with the city, and still must undergo inspections after a change in occupancy, according to the report.
