Jail Time for Realtor Accused of Forging Termite Reports

newspaperA Vernal, Utah real estate broker was sentenced to jail and fined after faking termite inspections needed for mortgage documents.

According to a report, the man was accused of forging signatures on pest reports that were relied upon by lenders. None of the properties were actually infested with termites.

The agent faced a total of 14 counts, all felonies.

A hefty jail sentence — up to five years — was ordered, then suspended. Instead, the 31-year-old will serve one month in jail, three years probation, perform community service, and pay restitution to victims who were forced to pay for termite inspections.

The agent had earned a number of top sales awards.
