How to Keep Your Ducts Clean and Your Property Safe

It’s no secret that keeping ducts clean can be quite the hassle. If you’re not using the proper products, you could be investing more time and money into cleaning out your ducts than what is needed. P-tec Products, Inc of West Michigan engineered the No-Pest Vent specifically to keep dust, lint, nests and the likes from accumulating. With no other product like it on the market, the No-Pest Vent excels where other termination vents fail.

The No-Pest Vent has no obstructive flaps or screens to clean between. P-tec Products’ custom dual door technology prevents animals from building nests in the vent and increases air flow to clear out lint and other material buildup. With less buildup, the risk of a dryer fire is greatly reduced. The No-Pest Vent gives apartment managers peace of mind by not having to constantly check vents for blockages or schedule maintenance repairs.

Instructions on How to Clean a Dryer Vent

From the outside: If accessible, lift both the outer and inner doors in order to clean. There is no need to completely remove the doors. Insert a duct brush and sweep the material buildup out of the vent opening. Return the doors to the closed position when finished.

From the inside: If you cannot reach the vent from the outside, the No-Pest Vent can be cleaned from the inside since there is no outside screen to prevent the brush from pushing the lint through the duct. Simply disconnect the dryer from its hookup and insert the brush. Make sure the duct gets completely cleaned from the dryer connection to the outside vent. Clean the back of the dryer before reconnecting its hookups.

It is important to clean the lint trap in your dryer before and after each load of laundry. According to the USFA, approximately 2,900 dryer fires are reported each year and causes about $35 million in property loss. Failure to clean the dryer is the leading cause for dryer fires! Make the smart choice to avoid any chance of a dryer fire. Installing a No-Pest Vent will help keep your ducts clean AND prevent your chances of a dryer fire.
