North Carolina Tenant Screening Background Checks

Most tenants pay rent on time, keep the premises clean and do not disturb their neighbors. There are other tenants who fail to pay rent when due, damage property and engage in criminal activity or other behaviors that disturbs the peace and quiet of neighbors. North Carolina Tenant Screening provides you with the comprehensive screening tools that are necessary to thoroughly screen your rental applicants. Discover your applicant’s previous rental history and if they have ever been evicted. Learn if the applicant has a poor credit history with the complimentary free credit report, also provided by American Apartment Owners Association. With your choice of North Carolina Tenant Screening packages, you can learn if your applicant has a local, state-specified or federal criminal history. You can determine if applicants have terrorist charges or if they have been convicted of sex crimes.

North Carolina “§ 14-208.16. Residential Restrictions” requires that a person who must register as a sex offender “shall not knowingly reside within 1,000 feet of the property on which any public or nonpublic school or child care center is located.” Section § 14-208.18 specifies that sex offenders are not permitted “Within 300 feet of any location intended primarily for the use, care, or supervision of minors when the place is located on premises that are not intended primarily for the use, care, or supervision of minors, including, but not limited to, places described in subdivision (1) of this subsection that are located in malls, shopping centers, or other property open to the general public.” Sex offenders are also prohibited from “any place where minors gather for regularly scheduled educational, recreational, or social programs.”

Some offenders fail to register or notify authorities of their address as required by law. When you utilize comprehensive North Carolina Tenant Screening, you can discover if your applicant is a sex offender, prohibited from residing or being found near a school or other prohibited locations in close proximity to your rental property.

Screening applicants does more then exclude those who do not meet your rental standards. It permits those applicants who pay their rent on time and are unlikely to end up in eviction court to rise to the top of your applicant list.
