Tenant Can’t Recover for Stolen Pot Plants

Daily Newspaper shutterstock_1272343108A tenant in Clarkston, Washington reports that her pot plants were stolen from her apartment.

To make matters worse, her renters insurance company won’t cover the loss, according to a news report.

The tenant, who suffers from brain cancer, filed a claim to recover the value of several plants stolen from her rental home.  When her claim was denied, she took the insurance company to court.

According to the report, she claimed a loss under provisions of her policy covering landscaping.

This week, a  judge told the tenant he could not award her money for the loss because he is unable to determine a fair market value for illegal drugs.
