Landlords Overcharged for Property Taxes-Twice

money down the drainLandlords in NYC are complaining that the government botched their property tax bills – for the second time in a year.

According to sources at the New York Post, at least 5,000 landlords were overcharged by thousands of dollars. Many landlords paid the erroneous assessments.

One landlord told reporters that overpaying for taxes on some properties left him without the ability to pay taxes on all of his properties, and that the error set him back $40,000.

According to the report, the landlords were not credited for a program which promoted rent freezes for seniors.

Officials are said to have sent out correction notices, but not all property owners received them.
